The underground warehouse was finally finished and Abacus and Arwen had left their shovels behind and had walked through the long tunnels towards the harbor. Here they were supposed to meet with one of the Smugglers and help them carry in the cargo. And it wasn’t a moment too early either. The weather had been both wet and windy the last couple of days and it had apparently been difficult to keep all of it dry – even if it had been carefully covered in canvas.
“We really need to find a way to earn back her graces,” Arwen grumbled and Abacus couldn’t help but roll his eyes, though he was careful not to let his friend see. Arwen was usually quick to complain and this particular issue had been the subject for at least a week. “We will. Don’t worry so much. Everything will work itself out eventually. We just need to wait for the right opportunity.” Arwen grumbled a little more and Abacus huffed in quiet amusement, when he heard the other mumble that at least they were done digging.
As they neared the harbor they fell into a quiet stroll, which once again proved that Lady Luck was looking out for them. Not only did it probably save their lives, but the things they heard would eventually turn out to be more than beneficial to the two friends. The coastal wind blew towards them through the tunnel opening ahead and carried the sound of two voices to their ears.
“… should be here in a little while. The warehouse is almost finished.” The first voice was hard to make out through the echo in the tunnel, but the one who replied, they would know anywhere. Captain Heinrich, the pirate who controlled the rivers of Thandar. A most peculiar pirate, since his ruthless and evil acts were only surpassed by his rugged handsomeness. “You did well, Connor. And as promised, you will get your reward.”
Abacus and Arwen had stopped walking and were listening intently. Connor was the man that they were supposed to meet, but if he was talking to Heinrich about the warehouse then that could only mean that the man had turned traitor. The faint sound of coins shifting hands confirmed their suspicion. “What about the rest? This is only half of what we agreed.” Connor sounded just as scared as annoyed as he challenged the infamous Captain’s words.
“Patience.” The sound of steel in his voice cautioned the other man not to push this any further. “You will get the other half, when our deal is complete. Don’t forget that you still have a task to complete for me. And it would be such a shame if the Commissar missed out on our little surprise, don’t you think?” Abacus and Arwen instantly looked at each other. Both knew without a shadow of a doubt that the sweetness of Heinrich’s tone only served as a thin veil to cover more deadly intentions…
Another exciting week of brawls has been concluded and after six concurrent wins, the Decepticons are shaping out as the season’s favorite. Six consecutive wins in as many weeks is quite the feat! This week they faced off against the Smugglers who now has to see themselves knocked down to 4th place. Blood, Sweat and Beers had their first victory of the season against Nightmare on Realm Street and Drink, Smash, Repeat won against ARPISTI, making it a good week for our two alcohol fueled teams. Both Heroes of the Damned and the Street Thugs pulled out yet another victory – still racing for that elusive spot in the finals!
The Clerics are holding on to their class lead as we enter Week 7 with a win percentage of 54%, while the Wizards are slowly falling farther behind with a win percentage of only 43%. This week the Thieves have also fallen below that 50% mark, while the Fighter and Ranger are hovering just above the mark with 52% and 53% respectively.
