The Highlander Series
The Highlander Series is a new tournament format for the Hero Realms Digital deckbuilding game.
The Highlander Series was created as a format to show that great players must be able to play multiple hero classes effectively. In a Highlander tournament matches are best of five, but once you win a game with a hero class you are restricted from playing it again that match. This means you need to win three games with three different hero classes, and you cannot only play the hero class you are strongest with.
The Format
Each event will have a MINIMUM level requirement that will vary based on which event is happening. For each event you will be required to have at least three characters (of different classes) meeting the minimum level requirement to participate. You can always use a character of a higher level than the listed minimum.
Each event will be a single elimination bracket.
Opponents will play until one player achieves three wins. Once you win using a character class, you cannot play with that class again in the same round. The player listed on the top of the bracket will send the first challenge, and the winner of each game will send the next challenge, until one player wins three games (Best of five).
The Season
Each season will include four open events and a season invitational. The top four players in each open event will be able to participate in the invitational, the remaining spots will be filled by the top performers from that season that did not finish in a top four.
The Season Invitational will require five characters (one of each class) at the TBD minimum level and matches will be to five wins.
The winner of this will be crowned the Highlander Season Champion!
