King of the Castle

“Many may try to conquer the Castle, but only one can be King or Queen.”

The Realms Rising Community has created a plethora of new and exciting online events for Hero Realms digital: The Tavern Brawl is a team league competition where bands of heroes face off vs. each other in weekly battles, The Hero Realms Premier Circuit is a league where players fight each other in various individual formats and tournaments while having their records and performance tracked over time, and Highlander is a solo player tournament format that forces players to win with multiple character classes in order to advance.

The most recent addition to the Community run events is KING OF THE CASTLE, a unique format where a player who succeeds in taking the Castle in a best of 5 challenge (with Level 12 characters only) must then defend it from an onslaught of waiting challengers. The goal is to win as many challenges as possible and extend the reign of the sitting King/Queen.

The Castle itself (pictured above) is found somewhere in Thandar, and has an eerie resemblance to the infamous castle from the Cult Classic movie Army of Darkness.

First, let’s take a look at the rules:

This is a simple-format competition for Level 12 Classes in Hero Realms Digital based on the game rules for King of the Mountain (King of the Castle). 

• The Queen or King of the Castle aims to hold it for as long as possible, defending it from a queue of challengers to set the record for longest win streak and hold the title of Longest Reign. 
• Challengers can try to take the Castle and start their own win streak by defeating the current Queen/King.
• Matches are held in a best of 5 set, are to be finished within 7 days, and should begin within 48 hours of the last challenge completion. If there are issues playing in that time frame, or any dispute, report this in the King of the Castle Discord Channel (or PM the Castle Stewards @jigmelingpa or @agentc13 there, who will resolve any problems).
• The challenger must send the first challenge. The King/Queen of the Castle accepts the challenge with any Level 12 class (i.e. fighter or ranger) they choose. 
• In subsequent games in the best of 5 match, the Winner of the previous game initiates the challenge, and the Loser can accept the challenge with any Level 12 class. So, if the challenger loses to the Queen/King, for the 2nd game the Queen/King will have to initiate the challenge, allowing the challenger to choose their class in response. 

The King of the Castle is a fun event that is continuously running in the background and during all of the other events. The challenges usually take a few days to complete so the pace moves along quickly and the queue of challengers is constantly cycling.
